The roses in my garden

Here I gather, variety by variety, the roses I grow in my garden in Bran, Brașov County, Romania. Each profile covers the plant’s origin, the color and fragrance of the flowers, cold hardiness, bloom time and observations on how it adapts to the mountain climate.

Available profiles

  • Munstead Wood — a David Austin English rose with purple flowers, a strong fragrance and several flushes of bloom.
  • Indigoletta — a fragrant violet-lilac climbing rose, planted in Bran in October 2026.

Roses planted in October 2026

This fall I added 33 new varieties to the collection, planted bare-root. The first profiles record the information from the packaging, where they came from and where they were planted. Starting next season, I’ll add my own photos and observations on how they break dormancy, their health, bloom and overwintering.

The story of the collection

The profiles keep the practical details of each variety. The story of my more than 80 bushes, which began in my grandmother’s garden and continues among the mountains, is on the page My rose collection.
