Who is responsible for your data
The operator of Gardening with Julia is Iulia Comisu, Bran, Brașov County, Romania. For questions about personal data or to exercise your rights, write to info@coltdeplai.ro.
Messages and the contact form
When you write to me, I process your name, email address, message and any information you choose to share, in order to reply and handle the request. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in communicating with readers; for pre-contractual steps you request, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR applies.
The form uses WPForms Lite. In the current setup, form entries aren’t stored in the WordPress database, and the additional Lite Connect backup service isn’t active. Correspondence received by email is kept for at most 12 months after the exchange of messages ends, except for information needed for a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute. Please don’t send medical data, passwords or other sensitive information. Without a contact address I can’t reply to you.
Newsletter and email updates
If you choose to subscribe, I process your email address and the record of your consent in order to send you news, guides and seasonal articles. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the unsubscribe link in every email or through the contact page.
Subscriptions are managed with Hostinger Reach, a provider that processes data on my behalf. Your address stays on the mailing list until you unsubscribe; the information needed to demonstrate consent may be kept for as long as necessary to meet legal obligations. Details about the infrastructure and any international transfers are governed by the provider’s terms and safeguards.
Comments and avatars
For comments, WordPress processes the name, email, text, website address if you enter it, IP address and browser information, for publishing, moderation and preventing abuse. Your name and approved comment are public; your email isn’t normally shown publicly. Don’t include information in the text that you don’t want to make public.
Comments and their metadata currently have no automatic deletion period and may stay attached to the post. You can ask for them to be deleted or anonymized. Managing conversations and preventing spam rely on the legitimate interest in keeping a working, safe space for discussion.
Avatars are enabled. The Gravatar service, provided by Automattic, may receive an identifier derived from your email to display the profile picture; loading the image also involves technical connection data. See Automattic’s privacy policy.
Traffic statistics
I use Independent Analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site is used. The pages visited, the source of the visit, the time of access, the type of device and browser, and approximate location may be recorded. According to the plugin’s documentation, it doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t store the raw IP in its statistics and generates an identifier by combining and cryptographically transforming the IP, browser information and a salt value. The statistics are stored on the site’s server, not on Independent Analytics’ servers.
The purpose is to improve the site, based on legitimate interest. In the current setup, the statistics have no automatic deletion period. The 12-month period for correspondence doesn’t apply to statistics. Visits from logged-in users are excluded from measurement.
How the site works and cookies
Hosting and running the site involve processing some technical data, such as the IP address, requests to the server and browser information, to deliver pages, diagnose problems and keep things secure. These operations rely on the legitimate interest in ensuring the site works and is protected. How long technical logs and backups are kept depends on the hosting service’s setup and on the need to investigate incidents.
WordPress may use cookies for login and, if you choose this option, to remember the details in the comment form. Cookie preferences are managed with Complianz. Details and options are available in the Cookie policy. Redirection is configured without extra logs of redirects and 404 errors.
Providers and transfers
The data may be accessible to the operator and to the providers needed for hosting, email and maintenance, within the limits of the services provided. Hostinger provides the hosting. Information about processing and subcontractors can be found in Hostinger’s privacy policy and its data processing agreement.
Some providers’ services may involve processing outside the European Economic Area. The providers’ documentation describes the countries, recipients and mechanisms that apply, including standard contractual clauses where used. You can ask me for more information about the providers used for your data. Data may be disclosed to authorities when there is a legal obligation.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can request access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest. The rights apply depending on the legal basis and circumstances of the processing; some information may have to be kept by law.
Send your request to info@coltdeplai.ro. If necessary, I’ll ask only for the information reasonably needed to verify your identity. I usually reply within one month at most; for complex requests, the deadline may be extended as allowed by the GDPR, and I’ll let you know.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP). You don’t have to contact me first to exercise this right.
Updates
I update this page when the services or the way data is processed change. The date of the current version is shown at the top of the page.
